Join Ogunquit artist and founder of Art HOPE, Laura Jaquays, for a morning of creative wellness at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art.
She will be the hometown host for a tour of the art galleries and seaside sculpture gardens overlooking Narrow Cove.
The program invites participants to enjoy creative mindfulness, observational drawing and writing, and viewing one of Maine’s finest collections at the historic hub of Ogunquit’s art colony.
Workshop materials will be provided. This is a free community arts program supported by Art HOPE, the OMAA, and York Hospital Cancer Care.
NOTE: Pre-registration is required.
Looking at art can start a flow of thoughts and feelings that define a moment and begin an enquiry. We become curious about what inspired the artist and how they used their medium to make the artwork. A work of art, rare or ordinary, can be a portal for creative investigation when we are open to observing what we see, what we imagine, and what evolves in our internal and external observation. You may ask, why did the artist make the artwork and what is it that attracts your attention? What story does it tell? What conversation comes alive in you?
Art HOPE is dedicated to promoting creative wellness through free expressive arts programs for people living with cancer or longterm illness and the community at large.
