With the holiday season firmly on our doorsteps, thoughts in Ogunquit tend to turn towards our town tree-lighting, caroling, Christmas music performances, seasonal food, art sales, family events, a beach bonfire, festive fireworks lighting up the skies over our beautiful place by the sea, our lively parade (where Santa makes an appearance), and more!
Looking to REALLY get in the holiday spirit? Want to feel like you walked into a Norman Rockwell winter scene in real life? Between the dates of December 13 through December 15th in 2019, Ogunquit is hosting their 33rd annual Christmas by the Sea celebration – a cherished 3 day event that represents the perfect opportunity for a holiday getaway in our gem of a small town on the scenic coast of Maine!

5-6pm: Salty Sea Stories by Captain Jeff Cook complete with an ocean view at TaleSpin Studio in Perkins Cove, (119 Perkins Cove Road, Unit#4)
6pm: A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Clay Hill Farm (220 Clay Hill Road, Cape Neddick). Charles Dickens (Kirk Simpson) brings his heart-warming tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, and all your favorite characters, to life right at your table with original music and storytelling while you dine on Clay Hill Farm favorites. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $12 for kids ages 7-13. Reservations recommended. www.clayhillfarm.com
5:30-6:30pm: FIRE PIT, S’MORES AND MORE at Rotary Park in Perkins Cove. Come enjoy music and snacks by a fire pit while you shop for gifts in the shops and sample cove coffee, cocoa and cuisine. Sponsored by The Ogunquit Parks & Recreation Committee and The Ogunquit Rotary Club.
6:30pm: TREE LIGHTING in Perkins Cove at Rotary Park. Come light up the cove with us before headed up to town for more festivities. Sponsored by The Ogunquit Parks & Recreation Committee and The Ogunquit Rotary Club.
7-8pm: CONCERT at the Ogunquit Baptist Church (157 Shore Road). Wells High School Select A Cappella group performs. Free admission.
8:15pm: TOWN TREE LIGHTING at Veterans Park. Join us in caroling and enjoy warm drinks and cookies generously donated by The Village Food Market and Moon Over Maine Bed and Breakfast. Weather permitting.
8pm-10pm: COMMUNITY HOLIDAY PARTY at MaineStreet (195 Main Street) Join us immediately after the tree lighting to celebrate the holidays with good friends, food and a cash bar. (all events at MaineStreet are 21+)
9am-noon: GOODY BAG GIVEAWAY at Bangor Savings Bank (196 Main Street). Stop by Bangor Savings Bank to pick up goody bags filled with cookies, candy, cocoa, coupons and more!
9-11am: VISIT WITH SANTA upstairs at the Fire Station (School Street). Have your photo taken with Santa and pick it up later at Cricket’s Corner Beach and Toys and The Ogunquit Camera Shop (41 Shore Road). One photo per family.
9:30am-2:30pm: BASEMENT BAZAAR downstairs at the Dunaway Center (23 School Street). Can’t figure out what to get for that hard-to-buy-for person? Find a little bit of everything and something for everyone at this bazaar.
10am-3pm: ANNUAL ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW at the Fire Station on School Street. Proceeds benefit Ogunquit Fire Rescue.
11am-12:30pm: TASTE THE TOWN upstairs at the Dunaway Center (23 School Street). Taste a variety of foods from local dining establishments. Bring a donation for our local food pantry or animal shelter. Check back for further details and updates on the culinary line-up. 11am-1pm: BOOK SIGNING at the Village Toy Funatic (232 Main Street). Ogunquit author/illustrator Matt Tavares will be in store signing his books including his newest book “Dasher” a NY Times Best Seller.
12-1:00pm: HAPPY ELF HIGH HEEL DASH on Cottage Street behind Ogunquit Village School. Dress as your favorite Elf and watch the hijinks as brave souls race up and down Cottage Street in high heels! Better yet, join in the fun! Heels must be at least 2″ high. Don’t have any? We have some you can borrow. Registration is $25 per person and begins at NOON, race begins at 12:30. Prizes awarded for Best time, Highest Heel and Most Outrageous Elf Costume. Proceeds from registration will go to Frannie Peabody Center (www.peabodycenter.org) Please note that Cottage Street will be closed to traffic from 12:30pm-1:00pm. This event is contingent of weather and road conditions.
1-3pm: WINE TASTING at Perkins & Perkins Wine & Cheese Shop (478 Main Street). Featuring wines for the holiday table and for holiday gifts.
1-4pm: OPEN HOUSE at the Ogunquit Heritage Museum (86 Obed’s Lane). The Museum will be decorated for the holidays and refreshments will be provided.
1-2pm: KIDS’ ORNAMENT AND CHRISTMAS CARD MAKING downstairs at the Ogunquit Baptist Church (157 Shore Road). We’ll bring the supplies; kids bring the creativity! Drop in to make an ornament or card to take home or send to Grandma (or to Santa).
2-3pm: STORY HOUR at the Memorial Library (166 Shore Road, across from The Ogunquit Baptist Church)
Enjoy a read aloud of popular holiday stories.
2-4pm: SEASONAL TREATS & WINTER WARMER DRIVE – Join Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty on their porch (19 Beach Street) for some seasonal treats! While you’re here, contribute to our Winter Warmer Drive ~ New Mittens & Socks needed! All donations will go to the Coats & Toys for Kids Campaign!
2-5pm: WINE TASTING at the Village Food Market (230 Main Street). Featuring great wines for the holidays.
2-5pm: PARADE PARTY at the Front Porch (9 Shore Road). Enjoy the best view in town of the Christmas Parade. Experience the warmth of our atmosphere as you sing along to show tunes before and after the parade.
3pm: COMPLIMENTARY TREATS AND WARM DRINKS at Veteran’s Park. Share some Christmas cheer while you watch the parade. Treats and drinks provided by Aland Realty (offices are located at 177 Shore Road)
3-4pm: CHRISTMAS PARADE THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED: from the Entrance of Perkins Cove up Shore Road towards the center of town, down Beach Street to the intersection of Beach St. and River Rd. 4pm: OGUNQUIT OCEAN RESCUE POLAR PLUNGE at the Main Beach. Come support Toys for Tots and cheer on our Ogunquit Ocean Rescue Service as they brave the wintry elements. Members will plunge into the ocean in Polar Bear fashion with the hopes of ensuring a Merry Christmas for all. Please bring unwrapped toys, donations, and plenty of good cheer!
4:30pm: THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED: BONFIRE at the Main Beach. Warm up in front of the bonfire while you get ready for the fireworks display. Please note — due to property safety concerns, parking will not be available in the Main Beach Parking Lot after noon on Saturday. Parking will be available at the Lower Lot, on River Road. Weather permitting. THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
5:30pm: THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED: FIREWORKS! A magnificent fireworks display will be shot from the Main Beach Parking Lot. Please note — due to property safety concerns, parking will not be available in the Main Beach Parking Lot after noon on Saturday. Parking will be available at the Lower Lot, on River Road. 6:30pm: LIVING MANGER at the Ogunquit Baptist Church (157 Shore Road). Beautifully performed by members of the Ogunquit Baptist Church, this living nativity reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. Weather permitting.
7-8pm: CONCERT at the Ogunquit Baptist Church (157 Shore Road). Barbershop back by popular demand. Not just a quartet, but a choir! Seacoast Men of Harmony perform. Free admission.
8pm: “QUEENS HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS” drag show at MaineStreet (195 Main Street). Featuring local Maine drag talent. Tickets are $15 and available online at www.mainestreetogt.com (this show contains adult content and language) (all events are MaineStreet are 21+)
11am-2pm: HOLIDAY MARKET AT THE MEETINGHOUSE at the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit (938 Post Road, Wells). Fun for the whole family with crafts for the kids, making old fashioned games and crafts to give as gifts or check out the market with a variety of vendors with gifts to purchase. Be sure to take a “Family Fun Tour” of the Museum before stepping outside to watch the Southern Maine Christmas Parade with FREE hot cocoa and snacks. FMI: 207-646-4775.
