Trust us – you don’t want to miss this VERY POPULAR Ogunquit event! \nThe 68th OAA Art Auction is at 7PM (doors open at 6PM) on Saturday\, August 3rd\, 2019 at the Barn Gallery in Ogunquit\, Maine. \n \nBid on a very wide variety of paintings\, graphics\, photographs\, and sculpture by members of the Ogunquit Art Association – Maine’s longest-established artists’ group! \nPREVIEW + PLAN AHEAD: The OAA Art Auction Preview is between Wednesday and Friday\, (July 31st + August 1\, 2) from 11 AM – 5 PM and then on Saturday\, (August 3) from 11 AM – 2 PM. Use this opportunity to preview the work! Pick an artist-designed bid card! Leave a Silent Bid!  \nParticipating OAA artists\, many with national and international reputations\, have created original\, one-of-a-kind bid cards on sale at the Gallery for $30. A bid card purchase includes auction admission\, catalog and refreshments. Plain bid cards for admission are available for $10. \nSome event parking is available in the Barn Gallery parking lot. Free parking at the Gallery.  \nCLICK HERE TO PURCHASE TICKETS NOW\n   \nMore About ChoralArt Camerata\nPortland’s ChoralArt Camerata\, under the direction of Robert Russell\, will make their first appearance in Ogunquit in the lovely setting of Barn Gallery.  \nA chamber chorus of about 15 singers\, Camerata features strong singers and independent musicians; their pristine\, resonant sound and utter musicality have garnered regional critical acclaim. Like all the ensembles under the ChoralArt umbrella\, Camerata is dedicated to advancing the tradition of artistic excellence in choral singing. Their program will be listed on this site in the near future. \nAt 15 singers\, Camerata is the smallest of the three ChoralArt ensembles (which also include ChoralArt Masterworks\, a symphonic chorus of 100 voices\, and ChoralArt Singers\, a mixed chorus of about 45 voices.) \n   \n\n\n \n   \nThe Camerata principally performs a cappella repertory from the Renaissance and Modern eras with occasional forays into ethnic and folk music. Favorite composers include Ēriks Ešenvalds\, Morten Lauridsen\, James MacMillan\, Paul Mealor\, David Conte\, and Stephen Paulus. \nMusic Director Robert Russell came to Portland in 1979 as professor of music at the University of Southern Maine and music director of ChoralArt. He concluded a 36-year tenure at USM in 2015 and was named professor emeritus. His time in Portland has been rich\, the highlights many. \nChoralArt has presented numerous concerts with orchestra\, many under the auspices of the Portland Symphony Orchestra. The first Messiah performance in 1982 stunned us all\, as we filled City Hall Auditorium (Merrill’s predecessor) with patrons and glorious music. \nOther notable performances include Verdi’s Requiem\, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2\, Bach’s Mass in B Minor\, Bach’s Passion According to St. John\, Mendelssohn’s Elijah\, and the Brahms Requiem several times\, including a riveting performance in 1991 with distinguished guest conductor Robert Shaw.
