SUMMARY:25th Annual Chamber Music Festival ChoralArt Camerata at Barn Gallery
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, Jun 14 (at 7:30 pm) Portland’s ChoralArt Camerata singers featuring Robert Russell\, Music Director (and presented by Ogunquit Performing Arts) will have their first performance in Ogunquit at Barn Gallery! \n \nTickets to this performance available now! $15 in advance; $20 at the door; $5 student. Tickets may be purchased at Barn Gallery\, Ogunquit Camera Shop\, Dunaway Center\, Ogunquit Playhouse Downtown Box Office\, and the Ogunquit Welcome Center beginning three weeks prior to the performance. Free parking at the Gallery. \nCLICK HERE TO PURCHASE TICKETS NOW\n   \nMore About ChoralArt Camerata\nPortland’s ChoralArt Camerata\, under the direction of Robert Russell\, will make their first appearance in Ogunquit in the lovely setting of Barn Gallery. \nA chamber chorus of about 15 singers\, Camerata features strong singers and independent musicians; their pristine\, resonant sound and utter musicality have garnered regional critical acclaim. Like all the ensembles under the ChoralArt umbrella\, Camerata is dedicated to advancing the tradition of artistic excellence in choral singing. Their program will be listed on this site in the near future. \nAt 15 singers\, Camerata is the smallest of the three ChoralArt ensembles (which also include ChoralArt Masterworks\, a symphonic chorus of 100 voices\, and ChoralArt Singers\, a mixed chorus of about 45 voices.) \n   \n\n\n \n   \nThe Camerata principally performs a cappella repertory from the Renaissance and Modern eras with occasional forays into ethnic and folk music. Favorite composers include Ēriks Ešenvalds\, Morten Lauridsen\, James MacMillan\, Paul Mealor\, David Conte\, and Stephen Paulus. \nMusic Director Robert Russell came to Portland in 1979 as professor of music at the University of Southern Maine and music director of ChoralArt. He concluded a 36-year tenure at USM in 2015 and was named professor emeritus. His time in Portland has been rich\, the highlights many. \nChoralArt has presented numerous concerts with orchestra\, many under the auspices of the Portland Symphony Orchestra. The first Messiah performance in 1982 stunned us all\, as we filled City Hall Auditorium (Merrill’s predecessor) with patrons and glorious music. \nOther notable performances include Verdi’s Requiem\, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2\, Bach’s Mass in B Minor\, Bach’s Passion According to St. John\, Mendelssohn’s Elijah\, and the Brahms Requiem several times\, including a riveting performance in 1991 with distinguished guest conductor Robert Shaw. Several collaborative concerts with Portland Ballet\, including a dynamic Carmina Burana in 2003\, as well as concerts with Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ\, Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra\, USM Wind Ensemble\, Musica de Filia and many other regional organization stand out. \n   \nPurchase Tickets Now\nCLICK HERE TO PURCHASE TICKETS NOW\n   \n\n\n \n   \nDisclaimer: Information is harvested (at time of publication) from publicly available sources and is deemed reliable but not guaranteed – availability\, prices\, details\, and etc are subject to change or withdrawal at any time and for any reason. We become curious about what inspired the artist and how they used their medium to make the artwork. A work of art\, rare or ordinary\, can be a portal for creative investigation when we are open to observing what we see\, what we imagine\, and what evolves in our internal and external observation. You may ask\, why did the artist make the artwork and what is it that attracts your attention? What story does it tell? What conversation comes alive in you? \nLEARN MORE\n   \nAbout Art HOPE\nArt HOPE is dedicated to promoting creative wellness through free expressive arts programs for people living with cancer or longterm illness and the community at large. \n   \n   \nOgunquit-Area Business Owners:\nWORK WITH US! SUMMARY:Ogunquit\, Maine 2019 Patriot's Day Weekend Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our 29th Annual Ogunquit\, Maine Patriots Day Weekend Celebration. \nPatriot’s Day is something of a Spring season-opener for lots of businesses in Ogunquit\, Maine! As you might imagine\, our ‘beautiful place by the sea’ knows how to celebrate Patriot’s Day in true New England fashion – with a full slate of activities\, coastal sights\, shopping at small town stores\, dining at the restaurants\, PLUS plenty of patriotic fanfare. \n \n   \n\n\n \n   \nTentative Schedule of Events (all events subject to change) \nTHROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND:\nOGUNQUIT STOCKS\, AND MORE PHOTO OPS (throughout town): Photo opportunities for the whole family! Don’t worry\, the stocks don’t lock\, but they will be available all weekend for photo opportunities. Another fun photo opportunity available with a life-size cut-out stand-up where you can take a photo of yourself dressed in old-time bathing suits\, as Uncle Sam\, and more! \nSCAVENGER HUNT (throughout Ogunquit): Visit some of the businesses around town to find the antiques and other items relating to colonial days in stores throughout town. Can you find them\, just based on their descriptions? Participating locations as of March 4: Bangor Savings Bank; Flip’s of Maine; Gorges Grant Hotel; The Green Heron; Hutchins Antiques; Juniper Hill Inn; LaPizzeria; The Milestone; Norseman Resort; Perkins & Perkins Fine Wine & Cheese; Seacastles Resort; Sweats of Ogunquit on Beach St; Village Toy Funatic. \nGUESS THE WEIGHT OF THE TEA CHEST (under the tents at the beach): How much did a tea chest weigh?
